Our Success Criteria
Many theatre programs seem to consider success to be high-quality theatre productions and training, while any personal growth that happens is nice to have but not essential to their definition of success.
At Chrysalis, if we succeed artistically but do not succeed at nurturing the personal growth of our participants, then we have failed at our most central commitment.
To clarify this and guide our leadership team, we have created the following list of success criteria.

At Chrysalis, if we succeed artistically but do not succeed at nurturing the personal growth of our participants, then we have failed at our most central commitment.
To clarify this and guide our leadership team, we have created the following list of success criteria.
Chrysalis experiences are successful if...
- Our participants are engaging authentically, freely, and fully in our activities.
- Our participants are growing, blossoming, and thriving, including learning valuable life skills that can help them through the storms and challenges of life.
- The fruits of the Spirit are becoming evident in our participants (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control).
- Our participants are truly becoming a united family, with no discrimination, bullying, gossip, cliques, social hierarchies, etc. They should be supporting each other, affirming each other, building each other up.
- Our experiences are truly inclusive, including reaching under-served communities and giving every participant adequate opportunities to learn, grow, blossom, and thrive.
- The creativity of our participants is thriving and being given adequate nurturing and opportunities.
- The gifts and callings of our participants are becoming evident as they grow.
- Our participants are becoming more aware and appreciative of the beauty/goodness God has created all around us.
- Chrysalis itself is growing, blossoming, thriving, and bearing good fruit.
- Whether they have religious beliefs or not, our participants should be aware to some extent that there is something different, something special about Chrysalis that sets it apart from secular programs.
- God’s hand of blessing is clearly evident upon Chrysalis. This doesn’t mean that challenges won’t come, but it means that God will guide us and sustain us through them.
